# Participant Experience

> Customize what participants see and how they interact during a session.

Control the session interface, available controls, and overall flow that participants experience.

## Session options

Configure these settings under the **Settings** tab of your scenario.

### Duration

Set the maximum session length. The AI will wrap up the conversation as the time limit approaches.

| Duration  | Best for                                |
| --------- | --------------------------------------- |
| 10-15 min | Quick screenings, single-topic practice |
| 20-30 min | Standard interviews, discovery calls    |
| 35-45 min | Full interviews, comprehensive training |

### Meeting controls

Toggle which controls participants have access to:

| Control          | Description                                |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| **Camera** | Allow participants to turn on their webcam |
| **Microphone** | Always enabled (required for conversation) |
| **Screen Share** | Allow participants to share their screen |

<Note>
  Disabling camera hides the camera toggle from the participant's interface. The AI won't have access to visual information in that case.
</Note>

### Recording

When recording is enabled:

* The full session (audio + video) is saved for playback
* A transcript is generated automatically
* Participants are notified that the session is being recorded

### Consent prompt

Toggle whether participants see a consent prompt before the session starts. See [Consent](/security/consent) for details.

## Join flow

When a participant clicks your session link, they go through:

1. **Welcome screen** -- Shows persona name, avatar, and scenario description
2. **Device check** -- Microphone (and optionally camera) permissions
3. **Consent prompt** -- If enabled, must accept to proceed
4. **Session starts** -- Live AI conversation begins

## Branding

The session interface shows:

* Your AI persona's name and avatar
* The scenario name
* Your organization name (if configured)

<Tip>
  A professional persona avatar and clear scenario name make a big difference in participant confidence. Avoid generic names like "Test Scenario" for anything participant-facing.
</Tip>

## End of session

When a session ends (participant leaves or time runs out):

* The AI delivers a closing message
* Goal evaluation runs automatically
* Results are available immediately in your dashboard
* [Notification emails](/capabilities/notifications) are sent to configured recipients
